About Philip Nowak
Philip is a Social Media Analyst in the New Services division at Sears Holdings Corporation, where he is spearheading social media initiatives and strategy.
In his spare time, Philip is volunteering as the Director of Social Media for Thomas Castillo, a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. He has successfully implemented a comprehensive social media strategy which has already generated many accomplishments including: Launch of MyThomasCastillo.com, Social Media PR Newsroom, Live CastilloChat Broadcasts, Google Search Result Saturation and Most Followed Politician in Illinois on Twitter.
Philip recently took a step towards fulfilling a life goal of becoming a prolific speaker by presenting at the Social Media Bootcamp Conference in Rockford, Illinois. He is the founder of Social Media Unraveled, a blog for social media newbies who would like to learn how to leverage the power of social media both personally as well as professionally. He was also recently ranked #19 as an Elite Tweeter: Top 25 Twitter users in Chicago by ChicagoNow.com and a Top Twitter Influencer by FirstCollegeNowWhat.com.
After graduating from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Philip honed his skill set by running his own business as a commercial real estate broker. Most recently, he worked at Marcus & Millichap, the nation’s largest commercial real estate investment services firm. After 4 years of brokerage, he reconsidered his career path and decided to follow his passion for social media, marketing and technology.
Philip was born and raised in Chicago and currently lives in the Jefferson Park (soon to be the Bucktown) neighborhood. He is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and looks forward to Jay Cutler [eventually] leading the Bears to a Super Bowl Championship for the next 8 years.
